![]() Bob Baron with Michael J. Kalsher ROBERT A. BARON is Professor of Psychology and Professor of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Former Chair of the Department of Psychology, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1968. Professor Baron has held faculty appointments at Purdue University, the University of Minnesota, University of Texas, University of South Carolina, and Princeton University. In 1982 he was a Visiting Fellow at Oxford University. From 1979 to 1981 he served as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation (Washington, D.C.). He has been a Fellow of the American Psychological Association since 1978. Professor Baron has published more than ninety articles in professional journals and twenty-five chapters in edited volumes. He is the author or co-author of thirty books, including Psychology (4th ed.), Behavior in Organizations (6th ed.), Essentials of Psychology, Social Psychology (8th ed.), Exploring Social Psychology (4th ed.), Human Aggression (2nd ed.), and Understanding Human Relations (3rd. ed.). Textbooks by Professor Baron have been used by millions of students in colleges and universities around the world. Professor Baron is President of Innovative Environmental Products, Inc., a company engaged in the manufacture of equipment designed to enhance the physical environment of work settings and living spaces through improved air quality and elimination of distracting noise. He holds three U.S. patents, two of which apply to the P.P.S.®, a desk-top device combining air filtration, noise control, and other features. This device, and the basic psychological research behind it, was featured in the APA Monitor (March, 1995). Professor Baron's research currently focuses primarily on the following topics: (1) workplace aggression, (2) impact of the physical environment (e.g. lighting, air quality, temperature) on social behavior and task performance, and (3) interpersonal conflict. | ||||||
