For additional practice of your listening skills, listen to Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech at the following web address:

Follow the link for "Politics and Government" and then select "Martin Luther King Jr."

After listening to the speech, answer the following questions:

  1. What was the central idea of the speech?
  2. Was the central idea fully developed?
  3. What examples and illustrations held your attention?
  4. How did Dr. King adapt to his audience?

The speech is reprinted in the Appendix on page A-27. Read the speech and confirm your answers to the above questions.
