FACULTY RESOURCES

Supplemental material designed to enhance classroom lectures and discussions accompanies Exploring Child Development: Transactions and Transformations. The ancillary material has been created to offer students and instructors information based on the transactional approach to child development.

The Instructor’s Manual, written by Carol Lynn Martin, Richard Fabes, and Denise Bodman, all of Arizona State University, is an important resource for instructors. For each chapter, it contains a detailed chapter outline; learning objectives; interesting lecture extensions; clearly written class activities; suggested videos, readings, and Websites; and supplemental overheads. The Instructor’s Manual also contains a “Careers in Child Development” section so that you can share with your students the types of job opportunities and careers that are available in the field.

The Test Bank, written by Richard Fabes and Carol Lynn Martin, contains “Tips on Testing and Grading” to facilitate the testing and grading process. For each chapter, there are multiple-choice questions with chapter page references. The range of difficulty (easy, medium, and difficult) is indicated for each multiple-choice question, as well as whether the question is factual, conceptual, or applied. The Test Bank also includes true/false questions, fill-in questions, and essay questions.

Transparencies have been designed to enhance your classroom presentations. The transparency package contains seventy color acetate transparencies drawn from the text and other exciting sources. The PowerPointTM Presentation was developed by Gary Levy of the University of Wyoming–Laramie specifically for Exploring Child Development. The comprehensive lecture outline provided by the

PowerPoint TM Presentation can be displayed to the entire class using a computer and an overhead projector with an LCD panel, can be printed and made into overhead transparencies, or can be printed and distributed individually to students.

Companion Website at http://www.abacon.com/fabes offers a variety of exercises to enhance both your teaching experience and the students’ learning experience. The online study guide includes practice tests, learning objectives, chapter summaries, and links to relevant Internet sites on infant, child, and adolescent development.

The Allyn and Bacon Interactive Video and Video User’s Guide was developed to accompany Exploring Child Development: Transactions and Transformations. The interactive video, with on-screen critical thinking questions, illustrates real-life applications of the textbook topics and provides a springboard from which to start classroom discussions. Allyn and Bacon also makes available to instructors an extensive videotape library.
