Tina Murillo Segler
Tina Murillo Segler has been teaching Study Skills at Colorado Mountain
College for three years. She has extensive experience tutoring, editing,
and contributing to classes at CMC. She earned a B.S. at Texas A & M
University in Economics and History.
Kirstin P. Connelly
Kirstin P. Connelly is currently a junior attending the State University of New York College at Oneonta. She is an elementary education major with a concentration in Spanish. She has participated in various educational psychology research projects during the past two years. Kirstin will be presenting her own research project, "A Structured Interview on the Long-Term Effects of a College Study Skills Course", in a panel discussion about The Self-regulated Learner at the Mid-Western Educational Research Association 1997 conference in Chicago this Fall. She is hoping to pursue her master's degree in educational psychology while continuing her career in the field of elementary education.
Rick L. Gant
Coordinator of Student Life Programs
University of South Carolina - Columbia, SC
A student affairs professional for ten years, Rick currently directs the University of
South Carolina's alcohol and other drug prevention program as well as the student
organization and involvement program at USC. Rick worked in Greek life for six years prior to working in these areas.
Rick is heavily involved in the first-year student course at the University of South
Carolina, where he currently teaches a section of University 101 and has done so for eight years. Rick also coordinates, with one other colleague, a mandatory program on alcohol and violence education for all 108 sections of University 101 during the current fall semester.
Althea Hojnacki
Ms. Hojnacki is currently in her third year of teaching study skills at the State University of NY at Oneonta. She received her BA from Hartwick College in 1974 and more recently a MSEd at the State University with a reading focus. She is hoping to continue onto the Doctoral level in curriculum planning and design with a focus on expository text reading skill development and study skills starting at the middle school level. She has been involved in multiple research projects related to metacognitive change, study skills and expository reading skills of the general college population.
