Chapter 2 Exercises




  1. Think of an issue in your everyday life. Generate as many research questions as you can involving that issue.

  2. Identify a research question. For that question, define a research project at each of the five levels of constraint defined in Chapter 2.

  3. Scientific thought processes are not used only in science. Identify several situations in your life in which you have used a combination of inductive and deductive reasoning. Think about each situation carefully and identify ways you could have improved the precision of your thinking.
