Overview of the Web Site

Web Links

The Web is perhaps the largest library in the world, literally spread out across the entire world. We have identified nearly 200 links, keyed to specific topics in the text, that provide interesting and useful supplementary information.

New Material

The resources that make up the CD supplement were first developed for our web site. As we develop new resources for the text, we make them available on the web site immediately so that the text is always right up to date.

Samples from the CD Supplement

The CD supplement for this text is the most extensive student resource available in this market. It includes an interactive Study Guide, a working copy of SPSS for Windows, a half dozen tutorials on topics covered in the text, and more than five dozen resources that are keyed to specific discussions in the text. It can be packaged with the text or can be purchased separately. We have included samples from the CD to help students decide if it would be helpful to them.

Chapter Outlines

We have made a set of chapter outlines available to both faculty and students. These are provided as PowerPoint lectures in the section labeled Instructor Resources. They are also available online for those who do not have PowerPoint on their machine. These are available either graphically (attractive format and includes figures) or as text (just the text, but loads much faster).

Practice Quizzes

We have prepared two 10-12 item quizzes for each of the fifteen chapters to help you test your knowledge of the material. The tests are immediately scored for you, providing constructive feedback on your performance and what you need to study more. You have the option of having the results sent to you via email. The results can even be sent to your instructor if you like.

Instructor Resources

We have put together one of the most comprehensive set of instructor's resources of any research methods text. We describe those resources and how to obtain each of them in this section. Included in this resource list is a base set of PowerPoint lectures, which instructors can expand and modify to meet the needs of their course.

Author Information

For those who might be interested in the background of the authors, we have included brief descriptions of ourselves and access to more extensive information.

Textbook Evaluation and Feedback

This text has benefitted over the years from thoughtful feedback from both students and faculty. We would like to encourage you to tell us what you think. We have included an automated evaluation form, which will provide us with the kind of information that will help shape the next edition.

Errata

Even though we have made every effort to catch and correct errors before the text went into production, there are always a few errors that get past our eyes and the eyes of the production people. All known errors in the text, including minor errors, are included in our list. If you find an error, we would appreciate it if you would bring it to our attention by sending us an email message.
