Exercise on Gender Bias


Revise the following sentences so that the language avoids gender bias and is grammatically correct.

  1. Each project team leader should schedule performance reviews so that he is done discussing them with members of his team by July 1.







  2. Tracing the source of the networking problem is a complicated procedure that will take a significant number of man hours.







  3. Everyone on the committee must report on his progress monthly.







  4. The production supervisor will be responsible for hiring, training, and overseeing a staff of 15 people under his charge.







  5. The information desk is manned 24 hours per day.







  6. After determining his division's production targets for the next biennium, each production supervisor should report these targets to his division vice president.







  7. Managers and their wives are invited to the groundbreaking ceremony.







  8. Each vice president should make sure that his secretary has completed all four levels of the communication training.







  9. Each employee is responsible for reporting all thefts to his site's security force theft prevention officer.







  10. If reporting errors occur, the accountant should report them to his auditor.
