The Writing of Business Mission or Vision Statement Evaluation

Rate the writing on the following aspects, keeping in mind that 4=excellent, 3=good, 2=fair, and 1=poor. Write comments when appropriate.

The mission or vision statement expresses the organization's essential values and goals so that they are visible to those inside and outside of the organization.

Comments:

The mission or vision statement expresses three essential elements: 1.) a clear sense of identity; 2.) clear, tangible goals; and 3.) the values that inform the goals.

Comments:

The mission or vision statement strives for brevity, portability, and memorability of expression.

Comments:

Vision statements are expressed in visionary, sensory terms; mission statements operationalize the image put forth in the vision statement.
