Oral Presentation Evaluation


Rate the writing on the following aspects, keeping in mind that 4=excellent, 3=good, 2=fair, and 1=poor. Write comments when appropriate.


ORGANIZATION: The presentation is structured to aid listener's retention: it provides a brief overview of what you'll cover in the introduction of your talk; foreshadows what's coming next; uses bridging between chunks of the talk; uses backtracking to review what's been covered; and closes by summarizing your main points;

CONTENT: The body of the presentation is complete: it includes all information needed to persuade listeners of the validity of your argument. This argument and its claims are well supported by the appropriate data.

CLARITY OF PRESENTATION: Language is appropriate to the audience. Technical aspects are adequately explained.

ORAL DELIVERY: The presenters speak clearly, loudly, and at an effective pace; and they speak with the naturalness that enables them to vary tone, pitch, and emphasis and to use their voices to emphasize important language and ideas. Verbal distractions - mispronunciation, filler sounds and words ("ums," "uhs," "okays," and "you knows") - are minimal or non-existent.

APPEARANCE: Good eye contact enables presenters to connect with the audience. Gestures are natural, appropriate, and confident and underscore the presenters' message.

VISUAL AIDS: The presenters use presentational software, transparencies, posters, flipcharts, hand-outs, and the like to effectively to clarify points. They are simple, few in number, and large enough to be seen. Moreover, visuals are designed to support the presentation, not for their own sake.

TIMING: Presenters kept to the time limit and spent appropriate amounts of time on individual topics.
