![]() ![]() APA's Division 2's web siteAs you know, Psych Site contains links to plenty of other web sites related to psychology. You can find these links under Teachlinks in the Instructor's Resources. One link, though, is so useful to the teaching of psychology that it deserves its own special place. It is the link to APA's Division 2's web site. If you don't already know this link, here is the URL: http://spsp.clarion.edu/mm/Division 2/d2.html Let's explore this link a bit, if you are not already familiar with it, so that you can see what it has to offer. First, click on the URL above. Second, one you have established the link to the site, bookmark it by clicking on the bookmark icon on your menu bar or add it to your favorites list. Now we're set to explore the site. Notice the buttons below and to the left of the "Psi Apple." You may wish to find out about becoming a member of Division 2 (if you are not already) or The Society for the Teaching of Psychology. Or, you may wish to learn about some of the people who are active in this organization. Or, still, you may wish to know about what services the Division offers its members or about some of the comings and goings of the Division. But let's skip these for now (you can come back to them later); for now, let's explore some of the links that may help you become a better teacher. To begin, click on the Related Links button. This will take you to a page that will allow you to access dozens of different web sites related to the teaching of psychology. Note that in the center of the page there are links to 5 different classes of web sites. Perhaps the two most important ones are the link to the Office of Teaching Resources in Psychology (OTRP) and the link to Other Psychology Resources for the Teaching of Psychology. These will be the two links you will find the most useful information to benefit your teaching of psychology. The OTRP link will provide you all the information that Division 2 has at its disposal regarding teaching resources. Its resources have all been peer-reviewed and represent many of the most important aspects of the teaching process. The link to Other Psychology Resources for the Teaching of Psychology will provide you with links to "megasites"-- sites that contain huge amounts of information related to the teaching of psychology (including the OTRP site). As you scroll down the page, you will see that this site also includes links to specific sites related to teaching about different subdisciplines within psychology. This list of sites includes many sites that cannot be reached through Teachlinks. Spend some time exploring these two links--you will likely find much of value to use in your teaching. |
