Welcome to the online demonstration for the Writer's Toolkit, an interactive CD-ROM program designed to help writers through various stages of the writing process. Across the top of the screen are the various elements of the program: Writing Tools, Writing Notebook, Editing Tools, Handbook, and a Help menu. Students will spend most of their time with the "Writing Tools," as the activities presented within that section will help students through the writing process. The writing notebook (shown on the right of the image) is a simple word processor provided on the CD-ROM. The editing tools are your cut and paste features. A grammar handbook is provided on the CD-ROM to provide instant access when students have grammar questions. Lastly, there is a "Help" menu that can be accessed from anywhere.
This slide shows the main menu within the Writing Tools section. The modules works through the various stages of the writing process: Inspirations for Writing; Choosing a Topic; Narrowing a Topic; Considering Audience and Purpose; Gathering Details; Organizing Details; Drafting; Revising and Editing; Proofreading; and Assessment.
