Mark P. Mostert is an associate professor of special education and coordinator for programs in learning disabilities at Moorhead State University in Moorhead, Minnesota. He graduated with distinction and a Higher Education Diploma in elementary teaching and special education from the Johannesburg College of Education in Johannesburg, South Africa. His master's degree is from the University of South Alabama where he was also the 1985 outstanding graduate in special education. He received his doctorate in special education and teacher education from the University of Virginia. Mostert was the recipient of the 1996 Jason Millman Promising Scholar Award from Cornell University and was Moorhead State's Dille Distinguished Lecturer for 1997. He served as visiting professor of special education at the University of Cologne, Germany, in 1998. His research interests include case-based pedagogy, teacher cognition and practical knowledge, and research synthesis. Mostert is a coauthor of the text Managing Classroom Behavior: A Reflective Case Based Approach 2/e(1998) and is author of the text Interprofessional Collaboration in Schools: Practical Action in the Classroom 1/e (1998).
