Overview

Teaching with Technology uses technology to teach technology! It comes in the form of a hybrid CD-ROM disk rather than a book. With the scope and breadth of a book and the interactivity of software...we call it Bookware.

People learn better by active participation rather than passive reading. Teaching with Technology provides many opportunities to perform interactive activities, browse the CD-ROM disk, edit and store electronic notes, create graphics and more...Below are a few of the major features of Teaching with Technology.

Features

Electronic Notebook - Instead of highlighting or underlining text in a text, Teaching with Technology has an electronic notebook that permits you to drag and paste. You can build your own customized textbook. Furthermore, instead of cramming comments into the narrow margins of a book, you can include your own annotations and notes in the notebook. You can then send it to a printer, or save it on your computer.

Software Evaluation Form - Teaching with Technology provides an electronic software evaluation form that explains the basics of software evaluation and also lets you evaluate a piece if software and store the results of your evaluation in an electronic database.

Lesson Planner - Because Teaching with Technology stresses application, as you evaluate a piece of software, you can also write objectives. These will be saved and entered into an electronic Lesson Planner. You lessons may be printed out or stored in their own database.

Electronic References - In a traditional textbook, if you see a reference and are interested in knowing more about it, you must find the reference section in the book or chapter, turn to it and then locate the reference. In Teaching with Technology, all you have to do is click on it and the entire reference will pop up for you to examine it. Click on the reference and it disappears.

Software Demos - Teaching with Technology contains interactive software demos so you can get the feel of educational software instead of looking at black and white screen captures of taken from software.

Probes and Explorations - Each chapter concludes with a series of hands-on, follow-up activities.

Teaching Utilities - In addition to the electronic software evaluation and lesson planning tools, Teaching with Technology also contains other electronic utilities such as a word search puzzle creator and a readability index tool to help you identify the appropriate age/grade level for any section of text.

Teaching with Technology Website - We created this website to update and extend the life of this bookware. We will continue to update it with new information and useful resources.
