Victor J. Vitanza, Professor of English, teaches at the University of Texas, Arlington, where he developed the undergraduate and graduate courses in rhetoric, composition, and critical theory. He teaches a variety of courses, especially in computer-mediated communication.

Prior to becoming an academic, Vitanza was a jazz drummer, working with a number of small groups and bands on the road. Now, as an academic and a teacher (facilitator), he is the founding Editor of PRE/TEXT: A Journal of Rhetorical Theory; the co-founding Editor of PRE/TEXT: Electra(Lite), an electronic journal; and the founder of the PRETEXT ReInterViews--all of which are on the PRE/TEXT TryAngle.

He is also the author of numerous articles and a number of books, the most recent ones being Negation, Subjectivity, and The History of Rhetoric (SUNY P, 1997), Writing for the World Wide Web, or ==W4== (Allyn&Bacon, 1998), and CyberReader 2/e (Allyn&Bacon, 1998).
